Pattern Creation

What to Make

We'll start out by creating  basic custom patterns in an inexpensive cotton fabric.  There is a set price for each pattern type (trousers/slacks, shirt/blouse, etc.), with 50% paid upfront and the remainder due upon completion.  This pattern can be adjusted pretty much as you like. The pattern may require 2-3 fittings in its cotton form, which can take several weeks, and will be tweaked until it is perfect.  Even in cheap cotton, it will be obvious that the pattern fit better than anything else you own.  The pattern will then be transferred to paper.  It can be used over and over for anything in that pattern type.

After a wardrobe review, a decision must be made as to what  items to add to your wardrobe. If you have made a trouser pattern, how many pairs will you need. We will discuss everything from the position of the waistband to the width of the leg, color, fabric weight, and all aspects of the final finished garment.  This is the creative part of the process.

Fabric Selection

Cutting and Fitting

At this point, I will purchase any linings and notions (buttons, zippers, etc.)  which will be included in the final bill. There will be at least two fittings for each item. Its's recommended that both fittings will include wearing the proper shoes and undergarments to assure a proper fit and the correct hem placement for trousers and  gowns.

The next step is to choose the fabric. I love fabric shopping! I'll help you select fabric that meets your needs for quality, durability, and style. You will pay for the fabric at this time and also the deposit for the clothing you've selected.

The Finished Product

Once the pieces are complete, payment is due upon delivery. I'll include a sewn-in label and care instructions.

As a general guideline, suits cost the most, then dresses, which are more expensive than pants and tops. This price will vary depending on the fabric selected.

Payments are as follows:
50% of the pattern fee paid at the first meeting.
50% of the pattern fee  paid at the final pattern fitting.
Fabric and 50% of estimated construction fee payable when fabric is selected.
Remaining 50% paid upon delivery of the items.

* Custom means that while we may list prices on some items, we ask that for most items you contact us directly before placing your order so that we may accommodate all your expectations.
